Background and basic facts
-
HFC (Hope Fellowship Church) is a 1987 church-planting project of the
North American Baptist Conference and the Southwestern Association. The
church is located in the northwestern suburbs of Kansas City, Missouri near the
International Airport. The church is also located in southern Platte County,
the county projected to have the greatest percentage growth in the Kansas City
area over the next three years.
-
Senior Pastor Dennis Dewey has served as its
pastor since the church's beginning. Chris Borkert, the youth pastor, was added
to the staff in summer 2004.
-
Erected in 1996, the church building is located on a 6-acre tract, which allows
room for expansion. The seating capacity of the worship center is about 225,
and a recently expanded parking area can hold nearly 100 vehicles.
-
The church is located on a major street (Barry Road) ¼ mile from Park
Hill High School and 1 mile west of Interstate 29.
-
There is a strong emphasis on teaching and equipping people to accomplish our
mission statement. We are intentionally helping people to know, love, serve,
and share Jesus Christ. We believe we are called to do this within the context
of a "family beyond a family," therefore we try to build a sense of community
and family.
-
International missions are important to us. We help support several
missionaries and several of our youth and adults have participated in
short-term mission projects.
-
Our worship style would be characterized as "blended." We have worship teams
that lead us in contemporary praise choruses, but we include traditional hymns
as well.
-
Our worship attendance during 2007 is about 165.
-
75% of our worship attendees are under 50 years of age, and there is a special
children's worship time offered for ages 4-8 during the pastor's message on
Sundays.
